- Client reports intrusive thoughts, memories, or reminders related to a traumatic experience.
- Client reports difficulty concentrating, persistent rumination, or repetitive trauma related thinking.
- Client experiences shame, guilt, self blame, or negative beliefs related to a traumatic experience.
- Client experiences difficulty adjusting to changes in their sense of safety, identity, relationships, or worldview following trauma exposure.
Avoidance and Coping Patterns
- Client demonstrates avoidance of people, places, conversations, activities, or situations associated with a traumatic experience.
- Client utilizes avoidance, emotional suppression, excessive distraction, overworking, or other coping strategies to manage trauma related distress.
- Client demonstrates withdrawal from relationships, responsibilities, or previously enjoyable activities.
- Client reports difficulty identifying personal needs or prioritizing self care following traumatic experiences.
Safety, Hypervigilance, and Physiological Responses
- Client reports persistent feelings of danger, threat, or lack of safety despite being in a safe environment.
- Client experiences hypervigilance, an exaggerated startle response, or difficulty relaxing.
- Client reports difficulty sleeping, including trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or experiencing distressing dreams.
- Client experiences physical tension, fatigue, somatic distress, or other physiological responses associated with stress.
Relationships, Trust, and Boundaries
- Client reports difficulty trusting others or maintaining a sense of safety within relationships.
- Client experiences difficulty with vulnerability, emotional intimacy, or communicating needs to others.
- Client demonstrates difficulty establishing or maintaining healthy interpersonal boundaries.
