Purpose 🎯🏆
Increase self-confidence by helping clients recognize everyday successes.
Let’s Talk About It 🗣️
Invite the client to identify every success from the past week, no matter how small.
Examples include:
- Took medication.
- Sent an email.
- Asked for help.
- Folded laundry.
- Made a difficult phone call.
If they minimize an accomplishment, gently ask whether they would say the same thing to someone they care about.
If the Conversation Gets Stuck 💡
- What’s one thing you’re proud of this week?
- What almost didn’t happen but did?
- What’s something last year’s version of you might have struggled with?
Telehealth / Whiteboard Version 🫙
Draw a mason jar and fill it with sticky notes representing each success discussed during session.
Why This Works 🌱
Clients with ADHD often notice failures more quickly than successes. Deliberately recognizing accomplishments helps create a more balanced self-image.
Clinical Pearl 🧠
Don’t let clients dismiss “small wins.” Small wins often represent significant progress.
