Purpose 🎯⏰
Increase awareness of time blindness and improve planning skills.
Let’s Talk About It 🗣️
Ask the client to estimate how long common activities take before discussing what actually happens.
Examples include:
- Showering
- Cleaning the kitchen
- Responding to emails
- Grocery shopping
- Completing homework
Compare estimated time to actual time and discuss where the differences come from.
If the Conversation Gets Stuck 💡
- What usually delays you before you even start?
- Are transitions harder than the task itself?
- What surprises you most about how long things actually take?
Telehealth / Whiteboard Version 🧾
Create two columns labeled “Estimated Time” and “Actual Time.” Fill them out together and revisit the list during a future session.
Why This Works 🌱
Many clients struggle more with estimating transitions than estimating the task itself. Increasing awareness helps improve planning and reduce frustration.
Clinical Pearl 🧠
Normalize that time blindness is a common ADHD symptom rather than a personal failure.
Documentation Language 📝
