Criteria for Major Depressive Disorder, based on the following sx (5 or more), which have been present most of the day, nearly every day for at least 2 weeks:
Depressed mood:
- Sad
- Empty
- Hopelessness
- Tearfulness
- Irritability
Anhedonia
Significant weight loss/gain w/in the past month
Decrease/increase in appetite
Insomnia or hypersomnia
Psycho motor agitation or retardation (observable by others)
Fatigue or loss of energy
Feeling worthless or having excessive/inappropriate guilt nearly every day.
Decreased concentration or indecisiveness
Recurrent thoughts of death/suicide, recurrent suicidal ideation, without specific plan, or suicide attempt, or a specific plan for suicide.
Sx cause clinically significant distress or impairment in pt’s life
