Autism Objectives
- Patient will identify and practice at least 3 strategies for managing sensory and emotional distress, as measured by patient self report over the next 90 days.
- Patient will practice effective social communication skills during challenging interpersonal situations, as measured by therapist observation over the next 90 days.
- Patient will identify personal strengths and support needs to increase self-advocacy and independence, as measured by goal-attainment review over the next 90 days.
Clinical Note
Objectives should be individualized to the client's presentation and should not require suppression of safe stimming, avoidance of all autistic communication styles, forced eye contact, or increased masking. Measure meaningful functional change rather than conformity to neurotypical behavior.
